Why do liberals want to be so weak these days? Don't you like displays of power? Don't you like being number one? Don't you want to rule the world?
Tremendous amounts of blood were shed so we can have the privileges that we have today, yet people seem to want to throw it away.
Liberals aren't weak.
Why do we need to display power when we are the most powerful, largest, best-equipped military presence on the planet?
The US is number 1 in many ways.
I don't want to "rule" the world. This isn't ancient Rome.
I think "people" want more bloodshed. I don't get that.
We defeated the Native Americans (I assume those are the Indians you speak of) and that is a blot on the history of this country just like slavery is. We never should have stolen all that land and forced people onto smaller and smaller reservations.
The Germans were trying to take over the world and rid the world of everyone who wasn't Aryan. Good. That was a smart idea, taking down the Nazi party. It was necessary.
The Japanese were allied with Germany. Again... was necessary.
None of this smacks of Imperialism, though.
We need to take care of what we have here at home.

Ok so next time there's a crisis, we can be sure that you will be sending either yourself or your young offsprings to defend that awesome superpower status? You will be at the head of the line?
I do think we treated the Indians horribly. However, they were a very violent, and brutal people for the most part to each others tribes. It was a case of a more advanced civilization taking over for a much more primitive culture. Yes, it could have been done in a less brutal, and unfair fashion. There was a lot of violence, and horror from both sides.
Staying out of both World Wars until late in the game. ~100 days in WWI, two years after the Empire, three years before "boots on the ground" in WWII.
Not having their infrastructure beat back to the stone age throughout the war.
Above are the two major reasons why the U.S. became the Superpower.
The wars after that, no comments.
We were a pretty isolationist nation for both WWI, and WWII for a lot of good reasons. Wanting to leave the European Wars to the Europeans had a lot of validity.
