SAT/ACT scores are a terrible, terrible way to choose students.

Yes to essays and somewhat yes to GPA. I'd rather choose students based on what they've DONE rather than on whether they are good at taking tests.

I'm side-stepping nothing. Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination. Either both universities and businesses can discriminate to choose whom they serve, or neither can.

Stop conflating private universities with businesses which advertise services to the general public. The two are totally different.

It's EXACTLY the same thing. Either both universities and businesses can discriminate to choose whom they serve, or neither can.

No it isn't. You can truncate my posts over and over again, the fact remains:

Harvard faces discrimination probe while accepting mostly nonwhite class

According to the article:
Quote:
Of the 2,056 students accepted for the class of 2021, 50.8% do not identify as white.
50.8% of the class is MOST of the class? That's like saying Clinton got most of the votes in the last election.

I'm laughing that you think universities don't advertise services to the general public. Ever watch NCAA football games or March Madness? Yep, universities advertise.

And if you've ever had high school kids, you wouldn't believe the overabundance of mailed recruiting materials advertising the universities with which your family gets bombarded. We've received advertising materials in the form of glossy brochures, DVDs, posters rolled up in a tube (Caltech), jigsaw puzzles (MIT), witty postcards (University of Chicago), etc.

People ASSUME that Asians work harder than any other ethnic group. They ASSUME that Asians are just born smarter. So when other minorities like blacks or Latinos start edging out Asians (and whites), all the sudden the Asians and whites cry discrimination.

Its BS.
Exactly, except that this isn't really happening.

You wouldn't be saying this because you had terrible, terrible SAT/ACT scores, would you?

1. Of course. Look at the crazy names people give their kids today.

2. They can learn Spanish here. Have your gardener teach them

3. If you don't have a Spanish surname, you can say your wife is Hispanic. Dye your kids hair and use fake tan until they are accepted into the college.
