Wait. So making it mandatory to buy a product actually increases the profits of the companies that sell that product? Who ever would have guessed?

The real winners regarding healthcare, are those who exercise regularly, eat only the most nutritious foods and take in no harmful substances. If they don't need any healthcare, the cost and availability of it means little. Of course, the most healthy are still in need of emergency care for injuries. I think a good first step in providing universal healthcare, would be to establish that type of medical service for everyone, funded by the government.

No, the healthy people are the losers in this deal. They are low risk, but have to now pay a high risk premium to cover the people with poor health.
