That's usually the case with both parties.

Trump is an anomaly. Republicans have ALWAYS demanded purity, but they never get it. With Trump, they simply threw in the towel and decided to win instead.

Viable 3rd, 4th, and 5th parties are needed. The Democratic and Republican parties are nothing more than a joke. Their candidates might as well run on a platform of "I can be more extreme than the other sides most extreme guy, and I'll drag my feet doing nothing for 100 years before I give up my cushy job"

But on Election Night, we come together, adding 1,100 statewide and DC seats since 2010. We now have 34 governors.

Howard Dean......"If you have principles, you suck, all you should care about is winning".

What a sad individual.

I would actually say the voter-base has experienced such a level of democratization that our political system can no longer handle it. There's actually space for 4-6 major parties in the US if our political system wasn't so conducive to a two-party system.

Im not sure how you believe that supports your claim. By that same logic, Hillary Clinton also gained in voters ?

And if you are going to argue the locations of those gains, you have to remember that Trump lost traditional GOP voters in red states as well.

By your logic, Both are unified.

I don't believe I ever said that. It's really irrelevant also. I don't care where you stand on things I don't care about. I care about where you stand on the things I do. I will not vote for someone I disagree with just so I can "win".
