His essay does bring up good points. Submitting it the way he did internally, using the company's system was wrong though. Say if you have an issue with your boss or subordinates or a particular group of people, you'd meet with them or their boss and hash it out privately, not blast it out for the entire company (or world in this case) to see.

They were justified in firing him if they choose to. If he chose to post it on his personal page, it would have been a wiser decision, although in general, even that may raise eyebrows of employers. He knew he was going to be fired for it, and wanted to go out with a bang as a martyr.

I have worked in a similar tech environment in Nor Cal and can honestly say what has transpired at GOOGLE in recent days is symptomatic of a workplace drowning in it's own pomposity. Please forget about the perks such as the free luxury buses for employees and fabled dining facilities in companies such as GOOGLE. The remaining work experience and interpersonal engagement is just fine if you are part of the Liberal echo chamber and it can be difficult to endure if not part of that line dance of listless SJW's and snowflakes.

The GOOGLE employee who penned the memo was correct and gives a quick snapshot of exactly a company like GOOGLE works. The guys and some girls rolling out the big stuff are passionate and driven to succeed with little time nor energy to devote to trivial issues such as diversity. This is within the domain of HR and ideally should not prompt an engineer to complain of overreaching effects on the company in general. It speaks volumes for how self serving more diverse than thou policies serve to create tensions among the workforce.

I read the manifesto that said "Women, on average, have more: Neuroticism (higher anxiety, lower stress tolerance)." Which one did you read?

Why don't more men work as nannies? Are they incapable of taking care of children or being better caregivers than women.... or just preference? This engineer was obviously talking about women at GOOGLE, not in oil rigs. So I don't know why you keep bringing it up.. it's about as relevant as babysitting.

Also, WTF does this even mean? A great many people aren't working at oil rigs - some due to capability, some due to preference. What does that say about them.... other than they don't work at oil rigs? Is that some sort of proxy for capability for every skill on this planet, or what is this great significance of an oil rig.

Default Google fires diversity memo author

Google fires diversity memo author - BBC News

Quote:
The controversial memo broke the firm’s code of conduct, Google’s chief executive Sundar Pichai said on Monday in an email to employees.
The memo, shared widely at the weekend, suggested there were fewer women at Google due to biological differences.
Wow, so they just completely proved him right. Not only did the company prove him right but the ****ty female employees did also with their hysterical behavior.

Guess Google prefers to employ complete degenerates:

These are the people logging your data through google.

Thee are the ones who choose what is and isn't shown when you type in Trump.

There's a revolution going on, but its happening behind the cyber curtain.

Everything that was said in the manifesto was completely true and well substantiated. And their corporate response was the opposite.

I think he's using it an an example to say that women aren't as well suited for certain types of jobs, hence why you don't see them on oil rigs. Hence the "inherently different"

OTOH, men aren't as well suited for other types of jobs, which is why they're dominated by women.

But who's arguing that women are "capable" of every job on earth? Last I checked, the manifesto's author was talking about women in engineering at Google.

That is exactly what it says "Women, on average, have more: Neuroticism (higher anxiety, lower stress tolerance)."

It does NOT mean there aren't no capable women or women are all neurotic.
