It doesn't surprise me that some people think your article is legitimate.
Let me help you out.

Minimum wage boost $8-$10 12 people are at this level
Minimum wage boost $10-$12 200 people are at this level

A good economy can pay more a bad cannot.
Guess where I'm going with this? Bet you can't.

the second jump had a far greater impact, boosting pay in low-wage jobs by about 3 percent since 2014 but also resulting in a 9 percent reduction in hours worked in such jobs. That resulted in a 6 percent drop in what employers collectively pay — and what workers earn — for those low-wage jobs.

For an average low-wage worker in Seattle, that translates into a loss of about $125 per month per job.

“If you’re a low-skilled worker with one of those jobs, $125 a month is a sizable amount of money,” said Mark Long, a UW public-policy professor and one of the authors of the report. “It can be the difference between being able to pay your rent and not being able to pay your rent.”

The report also estimated that there are about 5,000 fewer low-wage jobs in the city than there would have been without the law.

UW study finds Seattle

Some good mentions of other articles with different views too but this is the last part of the article.

“Traditionally, a high proportion of workers in the low-wage market are not experienced at all: teens with their first jobs, immigrants with their first jobs here,” he said. “Data is pointing to: Since we have to pay more, employers are looking for people with experience who can do the job from Day 1.”

In other words if you want more than minimum wage get a valuable skill and gain experience. I know that's pretty basic but many don't understand the basics.

Impossible!

My economic dogma says it's impossible, therefore it is impossible.

Simple Economics 101

As the price of a good goes up demand for that good goes down.

Since the people of Chicago doesn't seem to care and neither BLM... should we care !

I feel awful about all these killings but if the OP has such a good feeling about it than why should we care about jobs or what happens in Chicago as they are lost any way!

At a certain point, raising the minimum wage too high WILL cost jobs. Every market is different. Ask any economist about it.

The Democrats' push for a national $15/hour minimum wage is absurd. That might fly in New York City or other cities with a high cost of living, but it would be devastating to small businesses in low-cost parts of the country.

It ruined the economy of American Samoa
"
In 2008, the number of workers in the canneries was slightly more than 19,000 but has since fallen to 15,400.

Imagine the impact of this kind of job loss on an island with a total population of just over 67,000 people."

“For the period from 2006 to 2009, average inflation-adjusted earnings fell by 11 percent. This resulted from a rise in average annual earnings of about 5 percent while local prices rose by about 18 percent,” the GAO report stated."

Please see the dictionary for the word "non sequitor". Your post might be under the "usage" section.

Put another way: people can care about more than one thing at once.

So insisting that employers pay a decent wage didn't ruin all those small businesses that couldn't exist without taking financial advantage of their employees?

Well, what do you know.

Small businesses in low-cost parts of the country are already devastated. Many of them were done in by Walmart and their low wage employees.
