A new government report is being published to show the devastating impact climate change is having and will have the US. The NYT's has obtained a draft copy. Fear is that the Trump Administration will suppress the report.
Now I expect the usual positions from deniers: 1.The anti-science claptrap or 2. The "I know better than the Climate Scientists" by people who do not have the knowledge of a 5th grade earth science student.
Climate Change must be dealt with and the slow suicide of the human race through climate denial and failure to act must come to an end.
the scam is the government telling us the government can do something about it.
8 years of obama regs, the Paris accord and global cooperation, wealth distribution and the sea water is still rising?????
Respect for the earth sure.
theoretical academic regs, whose cost is out of proportion with their impact, will make no difference if rolled back by trump.
the economic gains will support research to bring a more green, economically feasible, energy base, much sooner than wealth distribution to third world countries corrupt leaders, Swiss bank account. Just look at what became of the billions sent to Hati.
no such thing as global cooperation outside of a world war.
I'm all for keeping the environment as clean as possible, and have made a number of changes in the way our family lives. Let's be realistic, though. Even if every single person in America suddenly said, "We believe that man is THE driving force behind climate change", there's very little (I'd argue even nothing) we could do that would make a difference.
Maybe some of these thousands of scientists should focus less on recording temperatures and more on developing solutions. Maybe some of them should try and get the government to stop suppressing the development of "emerging" technologies and keeping their prices artificially high in favor of oil. We'd love to put Tesla's new solar shingles on our roof, but at a cost substantially over $100,000, it's not even close to possible. Even an older solar array, with subsidies from the state, isn't affordable for most people. Even solar isn't perfect, though. We still need a way to store the energy produced, and have you seen the results of lithium mining? Not to mention battery disposal once they're no longer useable.
Really, the only true solution is to reduce the Earth's population to sizes that can survive by going back to pre-electricity and -oil days. You ready to take that step? Snark aside, what is it that you (generally speaking, not directed at the OP) propose? Posting dire warning articles is NOT a solution. Even so-called deniers are aware of the issue at this point.

Estimates indicate that the MIS 11 high sea stand likely was at least + 9 m (relative to present sea level) and could have been as high as + 24 m. The most conservative estimates of palaeo-sea level during MIS 11 would require an ice mass loss equivalent to all of the modern Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets; the more extreme estimates would require additional ice mass loss from the East Antarctic ice sheet.
We should be listening to Al Gore. He predicted everything years ago.
What he predicted was global cooling. Then he predicted global warming. Then, after some record cold winters, he predicted climate change. Well, what could disprove the last one? Global isothermy?
The report, by the way, is 545 pages. I'm not going to waste the time required to read it. The "manmade climate change" hypothesis is disproven by the historical temperature fluctuations, from natural causes, that exceed those claimed as proof. We're warming up from the last Ice Age.
Another proof the hypothesis is wrong is the Stalinist methods used to support it. Calling its opponents "deniers" is not a method of scientific debate. Neither are articles in popular magazines.
We're having a very nice, cool summer here. Of course that doesn't prove anything, does it?
Doesn't matter what people believe, humans will have to deal with this problem a lot sooner than they think and it will be much costlier the longer we wait. Our children will pay for our stupidity of making everything a political issue.

What exactly will money do? Are we going to bribe the environment? Humans are the stupid ones who built civilization in flood plains and on the shore lines of the oceans. Any rising seas that take any parts of civilization out is the doing of human hubris. The sad part is that it continues.

lmao..Oh the horror. We are ALL going to die next week!!!!!! Hurry up peons, open your wallets if you want to live!!!
Government has to fix this for us. Let's raise the tax rates on energy, and create new taxes to fund more government programs to fight man made global warming. Oh wait, we're cooling now? Well, errr, we can fight man made CLIMATE CHANGE. Yeah, that's it! If the weather changes we must PAY!
Wait, let me get into my private jet, and go to a man made climate change conference in Davos. Make sure the caravan of SUV's are there to pick me up!

Agreed. The best way to address any potential problem is to declare it unsolvable and continue on down the current path, ho hum. This is particularly true where our grandkids or great-grandkids will be the ones who have to shoulder the burden of our decisions, which means we have nothing to worry about anyway.
Mexican owned blog called the NY Times tells us, yet again, the world is going to end via climate change. So far their predictions over the years have been 100% wrong.
