I learned to call waitresses "dear" or "honey" when thanking them for the service when I was a kid in the 1960's. I sometimes still do that. I have yet to get a frown in response.
Methinks Ms. Judd is way too sensitive. Maybe she has the shared insecurity of the folks in the entertainment industry. After all her popularity can disappear any time and take her fees with it.
Sounds like she is not the only one who needs therapy. How do people struggle through life getting their feelings hurt over something so trivial? Life is hard enough without butt hurt over such petty things.
Forty years ago we were at a bar in DC with a large groups of friends. DH called the waitress 'honey'.
Everybody who heard him called him down for the remark. They pretty much all jumped up at once while proclaiming holy chit. Then gave him a 30 talking to about why he should never do it again.
But, this past Sunday I was entering a sports stadium. While at the security counter, I opened my purse and started to remove my wallet so the security person could see down into my purse. Her response as she waved my through was 'you're ok, Momma'.
I just was pleased that my town had progressed to the point that a young AA woman felt comfortable calling a strange old white woman momma.
If you had insisted on speaking with her manager to complain how insulted it made you feel these same posters defending AJ would be calling you racist.

Yet some on CD call strangers all sorts of names for having a different POV.
My point is that in eighteen pages of posts, the vast majority of them are painting Ms. Judd as some combination of ugly, crazy, and/or irrelevant, because she had the gall to post a video describing something she found objectionable. And other posts showed even less nuance by using obscenities to describe her. The internet has become a very coarse place where the veneer of anonymity encourages contributors to share incredibly shameful thoughts that would be better left unstated. On-line discussion has become toxic, and while the examples I gave above range from mild to severe, all of them contribute to the breakdown of civil behavior. Constructive debate can be critical without being insulting, and this thread has crossed the line.
Wow. You have really thin skin. You want vile? Go read the comments on that YouTube video. THAT is what most people think of her, and I can guarantee you that if you were to go there and try to lecture people like you have here...well, let's just say that this place protects you. You don't get protection on the rest of the internet They will tear you to shreds. It's not hiding, it's reality out there.

I have no desire to poison my mind with Youtube comments. In my previous comments, I have made an appeal for civility and constructive discussion, which has clearly gone unheard. Maybe the powers that be will eventually see fit to close this thread, because it has gone off the rails.

You want the thread closed because other people are voicing their opinions and you don't like it. Duly noted.
