You dad didn't understand the modern war. We have over 1 trillion bullets just in the hands of civilians. The idea that we would somehow "deplete" our arsenal trying to kill a billion people is pretty funny.

This^, although I don't see Trump in the light you put him in.

China stands with nobody but themselves. They will size up the situation as it unfolds and do, or not do whatever suits their interests the best way. They're telling the world they have already sized up what is happening, and charted their course forward, to the ends that they desire.

What they have publically declared, via an "op-ed" in their state run newspaper, is merely a declaration of their opening strategy based upon whom it is that makes the opening move. Beyond that, all bets are off. The western world needs to be very careful here, but neither can it afford to be cowardly.

China has a long history, and a memory that equals it. China is not your friend.......whomever you are. In the end, China stands for China.

Your are comparing Obama's "nice" war to that of the real abilities of the US Military. A war with no real objectives, no goals, and fought with constraints that kept the military from doing its job. Any soldier returning from there will tell you this.

No argument from me there. Why do we? Wall Street. We've created a monster that constantly needs fed.

His dad has never seen what a nuclear shell can do to a battlefield. 1950s technology.

China's manpower won't win the war for them.

China has far far bigger issues with India at the moment. They have armed troops facing Indian troops in a pretty tense sand off over disputed territory in Doklam. It has potential to excallate to war between the two most populated countries on the planet. 1/3 of the world's population live in China & India. It's developing as I type this.

It's big news internationally. Of course the USA MSM isn't covering it at all. It doesn't fit their anti-Trump narriative.
I've read about it. Since it doesn't involve us it doesn't need to be front page.

Kinda grates on ya, doesn't it...

You'll just have to learn to live with it.

IMO, I don't think China is willing to go to war again with the USA to protect the NK dictatorship. This isn't the 1950s and hence they have no military solution but bodies they can throw at it, and Mao isn't running things there now.
China has already made their intentions clear on that point.

“If the U.S. and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean Peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.b33b2a4e3c94

As I said, China wants things on the Korean peninsula to remain as they are.

It's in their vital interest and they'll do what they have to in order to protect those interests. Let's see if tRump is sharp enough to listen to his advisors who are a whole lot better informed on this than he is. His performance so far isn't encouraging.

Let's see.

We have a nuclear weapon equipped dictator, making threats at the USA. B y any measure one of the worst dictators in the world's history who has little regard for human life including that of millions of his own people.

It is the US President's and the US Military's job to protect the USA from these threats, and neutralize them if necessary.

Can't imagine why anyone would argue that we shouldn't defend ourselves.

it's about the sheer numbers-- see the little video- very informative...
and CYBER is a bg concern IF they can jam satellite communications-- then we are done - they don't need to have a huge army and weapons- it's like the BIG fat bully- he swings and knocks a few out-but if there is 30 little kids they take him down.

for Waldo

China=1.34 billion residents, followed by India with 1.19 billion. The United States is a distant third with 311.1 million people.
push come to shove --would India side with the US??
