Of course the difference you're forgetting is that I have yet to read any person in democratic leadership have a word of support for this guy. Whereas trump not only won't condem, he puts their thought leaders into jobs in his administration. Nice try though.

I seem to recall statements like "the police acted stupidly", "If I had a son he would look like.......", etc.

It's not just this president. Any president would have to deal with the extremists on the other side. Those people don't get swayed from their hard line opinions no matter what anybody says.

I don't think that the white nationalists are the base of the Republican party, necessarily.
I think they PART of Trump's base but that's whole different thing.
