President Donald Trump would order people to be killed if he could because Maher argued Trump “would do all the things dictators do.”
Maher said, “He totally wants to be a dictator. It’s so obvious. The people he admires in the world — Putin, even Kim Jong-Un he said is a smart cookie. It wasn’t that long ago he said I’d be honored to rain fire and fury on you. You know, Sisi in Egypt, Duarte and that nut in Turkey — these are the people he likes. He so wants to be that guy who can do whatever he wants.”
do you think Maher is right or wrong in his assertion of Trump?
Trump has little respect for democratic institutions, Trump admires strongmen, dictators and just about anyone with money no matter how it was obtained even theft.
Trump has little respect as well for individuals. The living are only so useful as to what benefit they bring to Trump.
Having said that I would say Trump would have no compunction to drain the Treasury, if the opportunity came up, or even sell this Country out if it benefited him.
He's absolutely correct that Trump is a devoted admiring of dictators. That's no secret. Don't you keep up on the news?
I doubt that Trump actually wants to order killing - after all, keep in mind that Maher is a comedian. However, Trump certainly wants a freer hand to toss people in jail, and you must recall that he was happy to have supporters shouting "String her up!" That's certainly a lust for killing.
Maher is an entertainer who says provocative things to his loyal followers. If he is your source for news and political views then I would think you would agree with him.
Bill Maher: Trump Wants to Do All the Things Dictators Do Including Ordering Killings
Bill Maher's illicit substance abuse problem manifests itself as a form of Tourette syndrome. He keeps saying things like this. He meant to say Obama wanted to do the things dictators do.
A new book, "The Drone Memos," allows readers to sift through once-secret documents detailing aspects of the Obama administration’s practice of targeted killings of terrorism suspects.
“You look at those documents, and you realize immediately this is a practice we have institutionalized and entrenched and normalized,” says Jameel Jaffer, the former ACLU lawyer who led the battle to obtain the papers.
“There was a time when the US would have characterized many of these as extrajudicial killings, as unlawful, even as assassinations.”
Jaffer, who edited the collection — you can read an excerpt from the book here — joined the ACLU in 2002 and worked for years on key post-9/11 legal cases on issues like detention and interrogation, as well as targeted killing. When US citizen Anwar al-Awlaki was put on a so-called government “kill list” in 2010, Jaffer went to court to try to compel the government to reveal its evidence and rationale.

LOL.... It was " lock her up" not "string her up". Nice try though! I know, I know. String her up fits the narrative better, but that's not what was said.
Again, Maher is a comedian, and entertainer, and a bad one at that. He says thing to incite, and inflame so people talk about him. He would be better off with the other Yentas on The View. Just like Colbert, Stewart, and the other Comedy Central types, a waste of time, space, and breath.
