Those of us who are older than 40 can remember the days that people escaped to the suburbs to get away from crime and general trashy people that were so common in the City. What ever happened? I am afraid that the suburbs have got worse than the City. It use to be that the suburbs were mostly white, professional people who cared about their schools and were an oasis form the problems of the City. Now it seems like so many suburban communities have terrible schools, illegal immigrants, run down housing and ugly commercial strips with empty shopping centers. Where can I live to escape from the troubles of modern suburban living that is more like the suburbs of the 1950s?
It will only get worse if we allow our justice system to continue to make excuses for criminals. The criminal robs you, kills you, rapes you for 1 reason.
They dont care about you or anyone but themselves. They feel laws are for sheep not them.
I am sorry that Johnny may have been molested when he was 8 yrs old. The fact remains he did it to another. As a past victim one would expect Johnny to know how it feels and empathize enough not to revisit the experience on someone else.
The criminal element continuees to move into low crime neighborhoods because our system tolerates them. Its that simple.
There are a variety of reasons why a number of suburbs may be converting into ghettos in the near future.
One of the recent trends in America has been a "return to downtown" for a lot of residents. Even smaller areas like Iowa/Illinois's Quad Cities have seen booms in downtown residential development. Even forlorn Detroit has seen this effect.
That is the "action." The RE-action will probably mean that certain suburbs - especially those with a lot of foreclosures or empty properties - will become slums.
Why not small towns of under 50,000 that are growing? Or do most people regard such places as even worse than the suburbs? Well, as difficult as it may be hard to find a decent paying job in a small town, I can see how such places would be highly undesirable, compared to the suburbs.

So after our nation is the most highly imprisoned country on earth, the criminals are still having an easy time against us, the law abiding?
I live in a fantastic area - in the desert southwest - at the base of a range of mountains.
Its quiet - the air is wonderfully clean. No car or aircraft noise. Can't see my neighbors home.
There are lots of areas like this - all you have to do is LOOK
Unfortunately but realistically, this isn't possible for the majority of us. Commuting into the city to work could cost a fortune with gas prices like they are. Not to mention the cost of property "at the base of a range of mountains". But it's a nice thought....
