You know with absolute certainty that the alt-right is on their back foot when they start calling us fascist commies. Morons can't make up their mind or don't know the difference!

Traitors are bad and don't deserve a place of honor anywhere. They deserve to be remembered in museums. Along with a thorough representation of everything horrible they did and a warning to never, ever do that sort of thing again. And if they do, the apolitical, non-involved majority will smack them down again like we're doing now.

You are confused.

The Revolutionary War was fought to form a nation.

The Civil War was fought to tear one apart.

There is a danger to apply 20/21st century morality to 18/19th century decisions.

Agreed. You can not judge the past through the prism of the present. That doesn't stop people from re-writing history in which they disagree. Sad, and pathetic.

Actually the Civil War was fought to keep the nation together. If the South had been allowed to secede there would have been no war.

In that era many, including citizens of the North, were more loyal to their state than country.

Those in the South were a traitor no matter which side they chose.

There was no shortage of people in the 18th and 19th century who thought slavery was wrong and evil.

Going to really need a source on this.

You can remove all the statues and flags you want. What you need to remove is the hate in peoples heart.
