It's also a badly written guilt piece trying to get free money for blacks who in reality don't care about slavery but do care about all the free money they can get.
This is what happens when you have big government along with the disregard for the rights of the individual. We still have many people with that horrible, failed thought process.
Yep big goverment and a media co-opting hate, add people who are easy to manipulate and don't even realize they are being manipulated.
"...Some white Americans like to dismiss slavery and past injustices against blacks as something of the distant past and therefore they should move on. Contrary to this, white supremacists don't seem like they want to move on from the Confederacy era. They also use the excuse that because slavery happened before they were born they are not responsible for the problems that blacks experience today.
The problem with whites denying responsibility for the sins of their fathers is if they use the same tools their ancestors used (hatred, superiority, racism, and racial discrimination) including the symbolism (historical statues and flags) to antagonize black people, then they are perpetuating the same evil their ancestors did. And because they do this they cannot absolve themselves from not been responsible."
Its much simpler than the article reasons. Here it is. As a citizen of the United States you INHERIT all assets and liabilities of this nation without regards to personal involvement in the creation of the asset or liabilities. For example, as citizens we enjoy many freedoms that are the results of peoples sacrifices of the past. Rarely, if ever, do you hear people arguing that they do not deserve these freedoms because they had nothing to do with it or because the sacrifices that gave birth to those freedoms happened 150 years ago. Yet, when it comes to the nations liabilities, like slavery and Jim Crow, and the cost and burden of reconciling the impact this legacy has on the present....then you get people, hypocritically, arguing how long ago it took place and how they personally had nothing to do with it.
As citizens....YOU are responsible for all past debts created by the state/nation. The only way out of such responsibilities....and benefits....is to stop being a citizen of this nation.
The only ancestors I had in America during the era of slavery were being shoved off their land and put on reservations. The European side didn't get here until after slavery was already abolished. I don't really see how that makes me responsible for something that happened 150 years ago. Quite frankly, unless I was an active slave owner I still wouldn't be responsible. If you want to hold people responsible for their actions, hold the people that performed those actions accountable, not their descendants. I can honestly say that I had some real shady characters in my family tree, but that doesn't mean that I supported, condoned, or approved of their actions.
I'm willing to bet that everyone on this board has at least one ancestor who was a vile b@$tard. Doesn't mean we should hold everyone who is here now accountable for that ancestor's actions.

No, and it's ignorant for the lunatic left to keep bringing it up.
BTW, in our US history, it was not simply all "white Americans" who were responsible, since it was the Democratic Party who made racial segregation and the protection, and continuation of slavery as a major plank in their Democratic Party platform. The dems even filibustered the Civil Rights Act.
So if anyone is to be held accountable, it would be the Democratic Party.
The buyer then discovered minorities lived behind me. He waited, hoping the inspections would give him an out. That didn't happen. He knocked on the door and said he had changed his mind, would we let him out of the contract? We did. But we kept his 10,000 dollars earnest money.
And don't forget our educational system where teachers, and college professors indoctrinate our kids with hate. Hate for America mostly.
If you really believe that then you have a duty to find those teachers and file a formal complaint with your school board.
