There are obvious parallels. The United States fought a war with Mexico...the same as with the CSA. Mexico has a strong history of slavery, same as the CSA. Citizens flying that flag do so embracing a country that was an enemy of the United States...that supported slavery.

I want to know...are liberals as quick to decry and denounce those that fly that hate-filled flag and celebrate their heritage as readily as they do those with the Rebel flag?

I suppose you could ask the same about the Union Jack. If Mexicans were marching through our streets calling out anti-Semitic chants, advocating the murder of black Americans, bombing government buildings and banks, and driving their cars into crowds of innocent people under the flag of Mexico you might have a point.

You do realize that Mexico abolished slavery in 1829, don't you?

The Mexican-American war was fought over turf and land rights. There was no social or humanitarian reason.

I'm aware that the Civil War was fought not only over slavery, but for economic reasons... but the fact remains that the South was willing to go to war for the right to continue to enslave human beings.

That is what makes flying the Confederate flag anywhere other than a museum or in-context Historical site repulsive.

The key difference is that Mexico is currently an ally and has been for some time. The Confederacy, in it's short existence, was never an ally to the United States at any point.

We DO have Mexicans marching in the streets advocating the murder of white Americans, attacking Americans of other races, committing violent acts and flagrantly violating our laws. So...where are the liberals denouncing them? Demanding all signs of their heritage be destroyed? Condemning them as violent, ignorant racists?

Confederates committed treason against the US government.
Mexico didn't.

(fwiw, I'm a 100% bona fide certified DAC, i.e. Daughter of the Confederacy on both maternal and paternal sides, with nary a trace of Yankee blood.)

Why we would want their heiritage destroyed? Mexicans have no ill will towards us, at the few who do, can **** themselves. Happy?

and the fact that they lost. Imagine a flag with Hillarys picture on it flying from state and county buildings, cause the Libs feel bad she lost. How would that work out for conservatives?

Nevermind keep flying it, I don't want to be considered a heartless democrat that thinks it's ok to hurt someone's wittle feelings.

I'm gonna ace those sensitivity classes this week.

Is the Confederacy an enemy of the United States, or a threat to US citizens, TODAY? If so, yes, I can absolutely see every reason to denounce the flag and what it represents. That would be no different than the Soviet flag when Americans we dying to protect people from Communism. The difference...today Mexico, both the government and some of the population, do still, intentionally, commit acts aimed at harming the United States.

You obviously entirely missed my point... just as I think I'm missing yours.
