TRUMP orders review of China's trade policy (companies, cost, economy)

Chinese firms are copying US products and ideas and either selling them back to the US at a lower price or squeezing US imports out of the Chinese market.

“For too long, this wealth has been drained from our country while Washington has done nothing. They have never done anything about it,” Trump said to reporters at the White House. “But Washington will turn a blind eye no longer.”



Trump said that combatting piracy and theft of information from American companies was long overdue, blaming the political establishment for looking the other way.

Very good move. Trump is somebody you want on your side.

Trump is acting fast on this investigation. The Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property estimates that the annual cost to the US economy from counterfeit goods, pirated software and theft of trade secrets is between $225 and 500 billion a year.

China was stealing our stuff in the days of the IBM PC. You could buy software for it on the streets of China.

Anyway you slice it, everyone should be happy that attention is being brought to this issue. It's been going on for too long. It's time to stop the bleeding.

Attention gets brought to it over and over and over.

The reality? China doesnt care. They will only care when their IP gets stolen. So Trump bringing attention to it is what every administration has done. ACTING on it or changing it is when I will applaud.
