Reuters news agency reports that emergency services have requested the closure of local metro and train stations.

Marc Esparcia, a 20-year-old student who lives in Barcelona, told the BBC: "There was a loud noise and everybody ran for cover.

There were a lot people, lots of families [at the site], this is one of the most visited sites in Barcelona.

"I think several people were hit. It was horrible, there was panic. Terrible."

He said he was now taking cover inside a Starbucks coffee shop.

Sadly it is sounding more and more serious.

Death toll so far is two.

There is a police manhunt under way and police have now stated that this is a terrorist incident.

Two armed men have now entered a restaurant and the incident is now on-going.

Isn't the Ramblas or Rambla one of the largest & busiest Pedestrian Blvds in Europe?

Prayers to the victims & their families. I hope they catch & kill the murderers/terrorists.

I blame both sides. The terrorist and the victims both deserve equal blame. Moderator cut: off topic

I hate saying this, but if those numbers stay in that range, it may actually be a miracle.
