You are an individual, not a population. That said, the argument made by the OP is grossly oversimplified to the point of nonsense.
There is consensus in the scientific community that human do have bias based on physical traits that is even detectable in infants and this is thought to translate to a survival adaptation that can be extrapolated to the societal level, but it does not mean humans are inherently racist or that overcoming bias based on physical traits is not itself a survival trait.
That's probably true about the inherent bias. We do tend to stick together in tribes, stay with our own kind. But this trait is exploited by people in places of power, to divide us. We could co-exist just fine if others wouldn't exploit us for their own means.

Assimilation always happens in a successful democracy. For as long as the founding principles are solid, and the nation's citizens agree to follow the laws of the land their representatives have created, a democracy will hold together.
A democracy does not need a single language, a single culture, or even a unified society to continue and to thrive. As long as the common will exists to hold to the law of the land, all those differences will find ways to overcome them or to tolerate them.
But once the belief we are all in this together, forever, is lost, then any democracy will be lost. And once gone, it is very hard to recapture.

If talking American Black people: even THAT can go off in some crazy directions cause of more and more Black people are having kids with white people and, many times those mixed kids DON'T claim just Black, especially if those kids have real light skin. Too, word is when going with quadroons, 1 quarter Black, the kids usually claim "white". Period.
Humans, IMHO, have a survival-instinct that makes them racist.......they most closely trust, group and identify with those who are most racially-similar to themselves.
When there is a totally unnatural and forced grouping of different races and cultures, it is going to eventually lead to much fighting, power-grabs/power-envy, social chaos and generalized disharmony.

Demographics are relevant to assess educational level which is correlated with economic performance. The (current) demographics of Argentina are: 52% European, 27% Amerindian ancestry, 9% African and 9% others.
Its rather spectacular economic failure since independence is attributed not to demographics but to the legacy of the colonizer. Great Britain colonized America and settlers brought with them a tradition of democratic representation. Argentina, by contrast, was colonized by Spain whose settlers had no such background. Great Britain was, in many ways, unique among the countries of the European continent in earlier centuries in promoting the rights of the individual.
No surprise then that Argentina was saddled with decade after decade of various military juntas and the like that crippled the country it could have become.

I don't think so. America was succeeding best when it had the least diversity despite problems with having some diversity black and white. And for some reason in the mid 1960's maximizing diversity was decided as the answer.
