This ain't going anywhere. This is like "freedom fries" of a decade ago. It will die down. Many of the founding fathers had flaws even by standards of their day but the intention of erecting memorials to them was not an act of oppression. This is silly. Maybe we should remove crosses from churches because it reminds us of the KKK and cross burning. How about removing the color red from public places because, you know, the Nazis liked red banners. Gotta change a few sports team names -- Red Sox, etc.

And all city names with Christian or religious references have got to go: Corpus Christi, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, San Antonio, St. Paul, St. Louis, St. Joseph, St. Petersburg, Las Cruces, Bethlehem Pa., etc., etc., etc. Then all city names referring to Columbus: Washington D.C. (district of Columbia), Columbia South Carolina, Columbia Md, Columbus Ohio, etc.. etc. Then any and all references to genocidal European imperialist colonialist invaders such as Amerigo Vespucci. So "America" is out. We'll need to change the country's name to something like Marxiana. The United States of Marxiana. Welcome to Lefty World.

The people aren't "woke" yet on this.

Despite calls by some politicians and the media for erasing those connected to slavery from U.S. history, it looks like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are going to be with us awhile longer. Voters strongly believe it’s better to learn from the past than erase it.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 88% of Likely U.S. Voters oppose removing the names of Washington and Jefferson from public places and taking down statues in their honor. Just seven percent (7%) favor the removal of their names from the public square because Washington and Jefferson like several of the other early presidents were slave owners.
Voters Strongly Defend Washington, Jefferson, Lessons of the Past - Rasmussen Reportsâ„¢

Seriously? No, I doubt that there's any groundswell of opinion anywhere in the US to change all those names. The only one that might attract some attention would be dropping Vespucci - who never did set foot in the New World, as far as I know. I believe he had excellent PR in his day - in our time, he might have made high office.

But it's a quibble, & of interest only to specialists & people who like to call things by their name. Much like Bunker Hill gets most of the attention @ the site of the Siege of Boston.

Just having a little fun. But sometimes it seems that's the direction we're headed.

Conservatives are mostly the ones pushing this hysteria and as a result, yes some of the far left are jumping on it.

Conservatives are giving this idea attention and legitimacy because it's perfect outrage porn. It really brings in ratings at Fox News, InfoWars, Breitbart, and AM talk radio. People and ideas like that are best left ignored.
