Poor choice of words by Trump, I think, since these groups are simply the left, and not an alternative to the left. Then again, it seems to have caught on as a catch phrase and drawn needed attention to these people, so maybe Trump's instincts were right again.

I agree that Show Biz - apparently the ruling ideology in the US since @ least WWII - is to be resisted with all our might. & if we were all adults, rational, & our political process & the popular culture valued political participation & respect for the institutions that hold our country & states & communities together - then yes, we could jettison the whole notion of role models as unnecessary.

Unfortunately, we're not there yet. & it's not clear when we'll get there. So in the meantime, as we struggle towards constructing our city on a hill, we need to carefully select people who can @ least stand as indicators, people who personified the values we want to instill in our country & polity.

Washington & Jefferson & Lincoln & Franklin & J. Adams & T. Paine & a slew of others have distinguished themselves in our history - sometimes by their deeds, or by their writings & thinking. & sometimes by sacrificing themselves for the greater good. That's the nature of indicators of the values we hold dear - some of them died much too soon, in desperate circumstances. They deserve to be remembered for the arc of their lives, & to serve as a reminder of what we value - beyond cars & money & ultimately empty entertainments.

New Orleans' Joan of Arc Statue Vandalized With 'Take It Down'

Another day, yet another statue of a military hero is reportedly under fire. This figure astride a horse was vandalized with the spray-painted words "Tear It Down."

Who was this historical figure? General Lee? Stonewall Jackson? Nathan Bedford Forrest?

No, this was a figure who hails from the north.

Of France:...

We all know the definition of the alt right. So maybe you can explain the alt left definition....still asking, but no one has a clue what it means lol You know why, because it's a made up term with no meaning.
