White House adviser Jared Kushner and visiting U.S. officials have been snubbed by the Foreign Ministry in Cairo in apparent protest over a U.S. cut in aid to Egypt.
The ministry says the country’s top diplomat, Sameh Shoukry, cancelled his meeting with Kushner and the others, which had been scheduled for later on Wednesday. The U.S. delegation is in Cairo as part of a Mideast tour to press Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.
Interesting timing on cutting aid to Egypt when Jared was heading over there...
the guy is like the fed reserves and the credit bureaus- they representing and making changes etc in people's lives- and have NO connection to government
You would think Egypt would be eager to make their case for more free money.
Unless they think they are entitled to it, perhaps because we are infedels.
"Egypt's foreign ministry on Wednesday snubbed White House adviser Jared Kushner and United States officials who arrived with him in Cairo, apparently in protest over the Trump administration's move to cut and delay aid to Egypt.
Egypt's top diplomat, Sameh Shoukry, was to meet with Mr. Kushner and the US delegation, but a modified version of the minister's schedule showed the meeting had been called off, shortly after the Americans landed in Cairo. "
Our Egyptian foreign aid goes back to the 1970's peace agreement that they won't be belligerent to Israel, won't fall into the Russian orbit, and will buy US military hardware. US aid to Egypt is half of US aid to Israel.
Who knew Middle East Policy would be so complicated?
