After a lot of pressure they are saying they will open if there's no room in the shelters. They're claiming they had flooding but there's a second floor where they could house hundreds of people.
We just got back from HEB (I've always loved HEB and will forever be a customer), as they opened at 9am. We got there at 7:30 and waited in line until the store opened and was part of the first group to enter and shop.
Employees drove in from all over and others walked, just to be opened for the community. Amazing people.
We were able to restock but also get about 150$ worth of diapers, baby food/formula, bottles, toiletries and dog food for shelters.
One of my girlfriend's neighbors just called to check in on us and is going around to check on others, as well.
A "NO" vote is a refusal. Whatever excuses they offered is irrelevant. One can always come up win an excuse. Practically all of the money was for for hurricane Sandy related costs, so Cruz lied when he said 2/3 was for unrelated things.
And they got their money, regardless of how a couple of Texas politicians opposed it, so that is that.
God is punishing south Texas...there is ZERO reason for the federal government to send money to these heathens. God is speaking to those ungodly people. I support ZERO funds to help those people

Although I usually believe in shared responsibility for such disasters, Cruz and many Texas republicans have been against having others pay for such disasters in the past. Should Texans pay for their own disaster or should we all?
Texas should take care of Texans.
Saw a news report where a father was complaining on how to get small children onto the roof.
My question to him is why are still there? Why didn't you GTFO?
I suspect Katrina victims who settled in Houston will now relocate back NOLA. The irony is delicious.

Fairly typical of a liberal, you have modified your beliefs and distorted history to punish those who have disagreed with you.
But that's why liberals are being removed from power.
All Texas Republicans voted in favor of Katrina relief.

As they point out, the bill allocates billions to dozens of federal agencies, including the National Park Service, the Smithsonian, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Secret Service, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration....
