The "where would they go" part is a bit more reasonable - the answer to that one is "they go where the Houston Metro Area has planned they would go". The Mayor of the small town of Port Aransas said his town does Evacuation drills and meetings 3 times a year, Corpus does the same. Port A has ONLY 2 routes out of town .... that certainly is not the case for the Houston Metro area - or even Houston itself.

Perhaps our Houston City residents can tell us how often the City of Houston has practiced or done meetings on Evacuations. The Houston Mayor himself admitted it wasn't a matter of "no place to go", it was a matter of the 2005 Evacuation during Rita ..... which was really done in a fit of Mass Hysteria in reaction to Katrina.

Mayor Turner and his Team made a decision - they didn't put up road block to force people to stay and be caught in this Flood. He made that decision against advise from FEMA, the Texas Governor, National Hurricane Center and ALL predictions. His Choice. Houston's Choice.

He's also been pretty much MIA since the rains began.
2.3 million in Houston and 6.9 million in Houston metro. Where would they go? Then what? So many have or will lose everything.

Houston accepted about 200,000 evacuees from Louisiana after Katrina and was strained to meet their needs.

Media is reporting Dallas has agreed to accept 5000 evacuees.

Maybe it's time for Texas to consider imposing a state tax to take care of damaged infrastructure and disaster recovery sites throughout the state.

If the Democrat sore losers would decide to help Trump, instead of destroy him, there would be a lot more positions filled in his cabinet. Of course you forgot that part, right? You have to love these Liberal Snowflakes.
The reason Trump hasn't filled many, many government positions is that he has run out of "buddies" to fill these jobs. The Trump administration is incompetent.

It didn't even have to be a "mandatory evacuation" ...... there have been about 4 major Flood Events in Houston in the last 4 years - due to heavy rain. They KNEW the problem areas, turns out it was a whole lot bigger (which they were warned of) that the Problem areas they knew about.

Busses were ready - both from Houston, FEMA, Texas Task Force and Texas Emergency Management - the Houston busses are lined up for over a mile on US 59 .... never offered, never used.

There is never enough time for a major metropolitan area to evacuate in anticipation of an unprecedented 1000 year storm. There's no telling how long it will take to recover.

Texas AG reporting that hotels beyond the flooding areas, are sold out and price gouging.

Really? TrumpPutin is quite adept at destroying himself and his party controls all branches of Government now so why would he need the Democrat sore losers anyways?

I wonder what part do Trump supporters not understand when your so -called "fake news" says that you will have 50 inches of rain pour down on you and is life threatening that they don't get?

Oh!
They don't get the Meterological /Scientific part !

^ no way out of town and no one to drive the buses.

Where would these buses have transported people to?

4 hours in good weather to Dallas. They can't handle an influx of millions of evacuees.

That's good to hear! I hope you have plenty of food for a few days, but you're probably better off than we are now. We live in a house. It's going to be a long night.

How soon we forget
This is what happened in 2005:
Quote:
In the Houston area, the muddled flight from the city killed almost as many people as Rita did. an estimated 2.5 million people hit the road ahead of the storm’s arrival, creating some of the most insane gridlock in U.S. history. More than 100 evacuees died in the exodus. Drivers waited in traffic for 20-plus hours, and heat stroke impaired or killed dozens. Fights broke out on the highway. A bus carrying nursing home evacuees caught fire, and 24 died.
