Can we use this thread to keep up to date info on Hurricane Harvey?

Seems like its going to be really brutal. Prayers to everyone affected.
As long as you're filling sandbags while you pray, the prayers might do some good.

Cruz was the first one in line with his hand out. Hypocritical wimp. I'd tell him to go get it from the victims of Sandy.

Texas Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn write to Trump asking for major disaster declaration as Harvey approaches

If you think it's bad now, wait until tomorrow when Galveston looks like a Kansas wheatfield and Trump goes to play golf.

I think they get the animals out of dodge in advance.

I know some animal shelters in areas further down where it'll be worse were flying animals to safe places.

Shouldn't this thread be in current events? Oh wait, then the rabid lefties couldn't blame Trump for the storm. Makes sense now.

Katrina was bad. Alabama had huge surge of water. I remember one guy got in his boat when he was in a tree hanging on. The boat went by and he and another person and they got in the boat and road it out. Sounds crazy. Others didn't have money to get out and they wound up dead.

Think the worst and hope for the best. One must take a serious look at their situation and get out if you know it can get bad quickly .

Default President Trump Signs Disaster Declaration for Texas

Being pro-active plus the Gov. of Texas isn't an idiot so this won't be a rerun of Katrina.

Well if you want to bring things up. Obama came off the golf course after an American had his head chopped off by ISIS,Obama went to the microphone and said a few words and went back golfing and enjoying himself.

Did you move to shore or leave boat in Marina?
It's a small Marina at Port A - the boats would have moved to a safer.location. The "Pirate" excursion boat went into the Corpus Marina, I read earlier today. Harvey went in just north of Port A/Mustang ..... so that was good news for Port A. Less backlash. Most of Mustang Island is uninhabited and a long road with sand dunes between the road and the Gulf. Port A always makes it through. I've stayed in an early 1900's Victorian that used to be Beach Front and in more that one 1930/1940 bungalows. Teddy Rosevelt stayed at the Tarpon Inn and fished off Port Aransas. The Tarpon Inn still stands and operates today.

It WILL be interesting to see how the NEW Construction that has popped up since the last big blow in 1970 has fared. Port Aransas has Exploded with growth in the last 50 years.
I guess Ill find out when I go down next in October (which is probably the best month of the year to visit).

There are several 'channels' along the road from Port A to Flour Bluff - the only one Open prior to Harvey was Packrey Channel (popular fishing spot) ...... it's always a mystery/surprie to find out what Pass/Channel exists after a Hurricane. Packrey Channel might survive - OR - it could close and Corpus Christi Pass might open again (closed since 1970/Hurricane Celia).

Such is Coastal Living in Hurricane territory.
