Guess who said this? I just ran across it.

The famous words of Emma Lazarus on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty read: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." Until 1921 this was an accurate picture of our society. Under present law it would be appropriate to add: "as long as they come from Northern Europe, are not too tired or too poor or slightly ill, never stole a loaf of bread, never joined any questionable organization, and can document their activities for the past 2 years."

It seems to be an apt commentary on Trump's attitude. So who do you think it comes from? I think it's worth noting that the immigration debate certainly isn't new, so commentary could come from any period. This particular comment is from John Kennedy. Who himself was widely acknowledged to be from fairly recent immigration. Like Trump - although Trump never talks about that aspect of himself.

rubbish, trump is like a lot of us, we dont mind LEGAL immigrants. ones that come here and follow the rules and contribute to our society.

its the ILLEGAL immigrants that cause the problems. they come here, ignore our laws, commit crimes, and become a drag on US resources. you might try learning the different between legal and illegal.

Nice little spin there, Trump said no such thing nor does he have any contempt for legal immigrants that are a benefit to us and aren't seeking to harm us. FYI, are you unaware that most legal immigrants are not from Europe these days and hasn't been for some time now and yet we allow in 1 million legal immigrants a year? Most legal immigrants today are from Mexico, other Latino countries and Asia. So you were saying? Why would we allow in any immigrants today that are dirt poor, ill or have a criminal background? Why shouldn't immigrants be vetted?

It's done on purpose. They think we are idiots that don't know the difference.

How about we send the Statue of Liberty back to France and see if they can live up to its idea ?

We should act quickly before the Liberal American Taliban damages it.

In the long run there isn't any difference. They're all people who will vote overwhelmingly in their ethnic interests to take as large a piece of pie as possible out of the pie that others baked.
