Wonder how long this private company has been hosting the website? Why would they decide to shut it down now? It's been up for years......I don't understand why they just decided to close it when it's been a filthy gutter website from the onset?
And what happens if in 6 months the political climate changes and the Huffington Post, Daily Kos, The Root are thrown off the web because these sites are deemed unpopular speech?
Those that applaud the shut down of unpopular speech are not only scary people, they are very short sighted. Things change all the time don't they?
Those are media sources. It's quite different than a forum to go and air your hatred and call for violence against others. One is a forum the other is a liberal media site. Not the same thing but I know how bad you want it to be.
This is extremely troubling if you value free speech.
no it is not.
The right wing decided to claim they are "free" to refuse service to gay people, or to pick and chose who to bake cakes for, free to refuse to sell legal drugs if used for something the seller does not like. Or free to refuse service in a store based on party memberships. (all done by right wing extremists.)
This is what the extremist RightWing wanted, the freedom to exclude people they don't agree with.
The Right Wing is reaping what it sowed. Free speech has nothing to do with this, that is the rock they are hiding racism behind.
Corps are NOW free to tell nazi scum to go to hell. just as a religious nutjob refuses to bake a cake or a store refuses to sell plan b or a store that refuses to sell me a loaf of bread because i voted Dem...
The Right Wing failed to think it through, they are so excited at the idea of "hurting " those on the left, they forgot the left can hurt right back.
I suggest the Rightwing hire some tech folk and start RaceBook.
Do they have the free speech right to internet access and internet websites too?
To me, the right to free speech sort of has a tagline: as long as you are not harming others, or inciting others to harm others, you're good to go.
However, once you start sliding down the slope of harming or encouraging others to harm others, it's no longer about free speech.
I think this applies to all extremes, left AND right.
Play nice with others, you get free speech. Act like jerks, and you don't.
^^^^^^all of this!
