Only 8 months in and Trump has done irreversible damage to the office of the POTUS within and outside of the U.S.
For the GOP, they are now the Party of Trump. They own it and will go down in history known for all time as the party who elected the worst president in U.S. history. Trump will be known as the worst world leader in modern history.
The U.S. will survive Trump, in the long run, the GOP won't.
The demographics issue is what has Trumpers and GOP right-wingers so frightened that they embrace white supremacy. Preibus tried to convince the GOP that it had to move leftward to survive...take up a reasonable centrist position. That splintered the party enough for Trump to fashion a hostile takeover. He's no more GOP than Lassie. He saw a leadership void and swept in before anyone knew it was happening... all for his own ego and benefit. Trump beats the demographics drum using coded messages and false claims to keep his supporters scared and worked up. That's why he doesn't condemn white nationalists and bigots. Nothing that he is doing or claims to want to do will stop the clock on demographic change. If the GOP becomes rational and more centrist, purging extremists, it will survive -- but not if it is based on fear and white nationalism.
