I see your point. But a free press is our number one protection against government abuses of power. It is essential for a democracy, and I don't understand why Trump keeps attacking the free press. If anything he should be extolling it.
If that is the case why hasn't the UN spoken out about what is happening in Venezuela ?
OMG, the UN can go #$%^ off. Or they can condemn the media for repeatedly attacking Trump which they've been doing non stop since he decided to run for POTUS. What a worthless organization, they really prove it with statements like this.
And I WISH we had a free press instead of what we have now.

Or, is it fake that "...once it was determined that editorial processes were not followed, CNN deleted the story from CNN.com. Soon thereafter, the story was officially retracted and replaced with an editor's note.
The piece "did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted," the note said. "Links to the story have been disabled..."
Can you come up with a better 'fake' story and could you also define what 'fake' means to you?

The story should have never been printed to begin with. Move the goal posts all you like but the story got printed.
In an unprecedented move, on Wednesday the United Nations human rights chief denounced President Trump's repeated attacks on the media as "fake news", which could amount to incitement of violence against media.
Mr. al-Hussein said that the president's demonization of the news media was "poisonous because it has consequences elsewhere."
He noted that Cambodia's government had withdrawn news media licenses and had cited Mr. Trump as an inspiration for doing so.
Here's my question. Why are so many of you calling it fake news when the news is simply reporting actual statements and actions by Trump and his administration? I mean, it's verifiable actual events that have taken place, usually with written or video evidence, so how can it be "fake?" You do realize that denigrating and restricting the free press is one of the hallmarks of authoritarian regimes everywhere, right? Why would America want to go down that slippery slope?

The process worked. I do not understand the obsession with the word 'fake.' From the article:
"In a staff meeting Monday afternoon, investigative unit members were told that the retraction did not mean the facts of the story were necessarily wrong. Rather, it meant that "the story wasn't solid enough to publish as-is," one of the people briefed on the investigation said..."
That's great. One item. Does that merit denouncing the free press as "an abomination", "enemies of the people", very very bad people --- and whatever else Trump has called the media?
And that's the big difference between our media and Trump: when the media makes a mistake, they RETRACT the error. They correct it and admit they made a mistake. Trump, however, lies with impunity, not caring about the consequences. Has he ever retracted any of his statements or even apologized? He certainly hasn't resigned his post. So your link doesn't prove fake news. If anything, it proves the opposite; that our media has loads of integrity Trump doesn't have.
