Ok, they do, by ICE that's their job for a reason. Would you like to be stopped and asked for papers constantly because of how you look?

SB4 becomes active tomorrow - on September 1... so it makes sense to rule on it before then.

The lawsuit was filed May 8, 2017, and the evidentiary hearing on June 26.

I live in austin. Travis county releases illegals all the time... most recently they released this guy

ICE detainer on accused molester initially denied, opening door to policy change | KXAN.com

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says they are reviewing their ICE detainer policy and are now considering modifications due to a recent case where the jail initially denied a retainer on an accused child sex abuser.

This guy raped and sexually abused a 9 year old...had a detainer ...the sheriff dept released him...

These local police need to be held accountable if someone like a serial rapist is released with a ice warrant....get these people OUT

The city of Houston is literally under water and some people are worried about this crap. Astounding but not unbelievable. Wow. Just wow.

These cities release ILLEGAL criminals back into society before ICE can get them. They need to be held responsible for not upholding the law. This law needs to be enforced and repealed.
ICE needs to come and pick them up in a timely fashion. Municipalities DON'T HAVE THE MONEY/RESOURCES to hold and feed these people. If ICE doesn't pick them up, out they go. Tell Trump to pony up the money to catch and hold, otherwise it's catch and release when time is up.

BTW, do you live in any of these cities?

Well, if it makes you feel any better Joe Arpaio ignored 400 cases of child abuse, including rape cases, and he was just granted a presidential pardon.

He was more interested in Obama's birth certificate

How is the food and care covered for detained American law breakers? No such thing as an undocumented either they are illegal aliens.

No one is asking anyone who looks Mexican for papers at random either. It is only under lawful contact such as a traffic violation and that's only if they can't produce a valid ID. Oh gee, we should let law breakers roam our streets so they will report other law breakers? Yeah, that's not likely to happen anyway.

FWIW, the jails in Harris county are so full, they ship prisoners to other states. Where do you want these illegals held and who pays?

Houston has followed what the states does for as long as I can remember. Even when Bill White, the mayor, was running for governor the Rs tarnished him with sanctuary city.. The city of Houston was enforcing the immigration laws exactly like the state and Governor Rick Perry were .

The people who have been screaming about illegals for the past few years are in a world of hurt. What Texas politician supports deporting illegals?

Their bankrollers would be out of business and where would the politicians get their funding and PAC money.

Check out the now dead Bob Perry. He almost personally funded the Texas Republicans for years. Guess who built the houses his company sold.

The law, set to go into effect on September 1, would have given local law enforcement the authority to ask about a person's immigration status during routine interactions such as a traffic stop.

It also required local officials to comply with requests from federal immigration authorities to detain anyone suspected of being in the country illegally. Local law enforcement officials could be fined and removed from office if they did not cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

Critics of the law said it would encourage racial profiling and violate the First and Fourth Amendments. The cities of San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Austin had joined a lawsuit brought by the city of El Cenizo against SB 4, arguing that the law would undermine any cooperation between local police and immigrant communities in dealing with crime.

Looks like the Obama leftovers are still roaming around thinking they can legislate laws from the bench.....

How does enforcing immigration laws on the books make neighborhoods less safer than sheriffs and cities releasing arrested illegal alien felons back into our neighborhoods?

Also, why do they said "immigrant communities"? Do they mean illegal communities? If you are a legal immigrant... What worry would you have?

Wheres the logic???? I see no racism in SB4..
