The normal incentives would result in normal speed which in turn causes suffering and dead in a disaster.
Not sure why it's so hard to understand.
Not sure why reality is so hard for you to understand. Watch the news. Look at what happened and is still happening. Emergency supplies and aid have rushed to the area in lightning speed without any incentives at all except for the human desire to render aid. I know that throws such a monkey wrench into your law of the jungle economics philosophy and belief that gouging is necessary to allocate resources efficiently but that is the Reality.
The death toll for Harvey is around 50, all but a few from drowning. Most from people trying to evacuate too late. Zero, nada, nil, butkus have been due to lack of food, water, clothing, or gasoline.
What are you not getting.? If you get to the gas station you probably will never get back to it and it will be closed when it runs out .
Know what worries me here, if there ever was a terrible event in your areas. You all be lost.
Yes, the gas station will be closed when it runs out because anti-gouging laws would prevent the gas station from charging $10/gal.
If it's truly a crisis situation, you should be doing one of two things:
1. Staying at home, not driving anywhere.
2. Driving to a place that is not in the danger zone.
I'm from North Carolina and have lived through several hurricanes during my life.
Never heard of BLM or that other junk you posted. Any moron that has 20,000 gals of gas in his tanks frank and paid pre storm prices should be shot for charging 20 a gal hal.
^^ great video and spot on. I guess people here are too young to remember the gas crisis in the 70's. People were lined up at gas stations just to top off their tank which created a hardship or even dangerous situation for people with an urgent need. When there's a shortage of something, the last thing you want is a bunch of hoarders diminishing critical supply. Keeping an open market prevents that.
