It's not that simple. If it was then a law would have been set in place by our congress. Think about it in another way...chances are these kids were taken from the home they knew and came here.
Chances are these kids were taken from their birthplaces and brought here, but when that happened, they were young and didn't really know their home country. They formed their bonds here. They went to school here. They learned American culture. Their home is here, not in the foreign country they were born. To send them away is cruel and inhumane.
I was watching the news both on the English stations and on the Spanish Station. With the amount of children that are here illegally and are benefiting from DACA I have not seen any of them offer a solution. I don't see any solutions from Congress or Trump. I understand that they are here illegally. I am a big rule of law kind of guy. Many of these kids had no idea that they were born outside pf the United States.
What I have seen and find it interesting is the number of Mexican Flags being flown. I have also seen people holding United States flags. I saw someone holding a sign that said "People are not illegal". The act of coming here with or without your knowledge does not change the fact that something illegal has happened.
We could argue all the points on DACA all we want but still I don't see a solution.
Something that I thought of is allowing these kids to serve the Nation that they say they want to stay in. Could we offer up a two year to five year service solution for these kids? Options could be to join the military,
volunteer time for a period of years or hours of service. 40 hour work week for 50 weeks is 2,000 hours of service a year. Have these kids work two years of service, or more. Possibly a variation of the above.
These are people that are marching to stay in the United States. Offer a service solution and see how many are willing to do what it takes to become legal Citizens.
Let me know what you think. With my limited way of thinking I have no knowledge of what I am offering as a solution would work, or if it has been discussed before. What do you think?
I mentioned this in the other thread too. This bugs me.
I see news coverage of many DACA protests here in SoCal, and so many of the protestors are marching down the street waiving the Mexican flag.
The message I get from this is that they want all the rights and privileges that America has to offer, but do not want to assimilate and become Americans. They want to "make America Mexico again". The only explanation is that they are part of the Reconquista movement.
So for 8 years, Republicans cried and crowed about the Dream Act, and how bad it was and how it was an example of Democrats putting the interests of illegal aliens over those of us who were born here.
Now, they're terrified of getting rid of it. Guess what...they never wanted to get rid of it in the first place. It was a populist and cynical ploy for votes. They were only against it because Obama was FOR it. That much is clear now. Conservatives got duped again.
Now Trump has once again backed them into a corner. It's their own fault...Trump has nothing to lose. The Republican Congress desperately wants to hold onto what Hispanic support they have with hopes of expanding it. Good luck with that.
Before this, it was Obamacare. Again, Repubs never really wanted to repeal it, but they knew Obama would veto any attempt at overturning it.
Not so for Trump. And as much as the Republicans want the Obamacare issue to go away, Trump can't and WON'T let it go. It's a promise he made. Again, Repubs have boxed themselves in.
I'm sure there are other issue, but these two are the most prominent right now. I just don't get the Republican Party. They're the biggest group of political masochists I've ever seen.
This is SO TRUE! All this crap they pulled when Obama was president because they KNEW nothing would come of it - now it's all come home to roost. And given the statements already made by the likes of Representative King, and Paul Ryan - it seems unlikely they are going to do anything to drastically change

Try to stay on topic. THIS thread is about all the dog and pony shows the Republicans put on while Obama was in office. NOW that the ball is in their court - they absolutely don't want to deal with it.
Instead of worrying about the Democrats - you better worry about your own candidate for 2020 AND your message.
We don't owe them anything. The 1986 amnesty was a mistake, and we were lied to that it was a one-time deal.
We shouldn't even be discussing giving amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Immigrants, regardless of how they got here, are some of the hardest working people I know. They liven the place up. My visits to the parts of the country where there are few to no immigrants just confirms my observation. I'd hate for the entire country to be like those places, it's bad for the country to be that dull and slow.

All kidding aside, they need to become naturalized American citizens by going through all the classes and examinations. Learn and speak fluent English. Maintain a stable job. Most of all, not be a recipient of Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing, Medicaid, or Welfare.
Obama needs to step back and stay quiet. Just like Bush did for him. This is getting worse than a 10 year olds he/she said crap.
But did Obama come into office and start signing executive orders as fast as he could to reverse everything and anything Bush did OUT OF SPITE, not caring who gets hurt, if it assuages Trump's frail ego?
Because that is Trump's childish motivation. And anyone who cannot see that is blind.
