Why didn't Obama and the fully democrat controlled house and senate solve this problem when they had the chance six years ago?
I can tell you why. Democrats planned for this fiasco because their motto is "never let a crisis go to waste".
They only had 2 years AND had a rotten economy to deal with. For 8 months so far, Repubs have had both houses of Congress, the Presidency and the SCOTUS. What have they accomplished?!! I'm sure that It's not as easy as it looks. As you might recall, Obama and the Dems tried to get DACA passed thru Congress, but had to settle on Exec Order due to political pressure from the illegals.
100%. This forces congress to address this issue. It's also forces R's to show their true colors prior to the 2018 mid term elections. It's also a standard negotiating tactic. The left wants the extreme position of full amnesty. Trump opens will the extreme position of deporting them all. A likely middle ground would be making them simply illegals, like millions of others. So long as they're not committing crimes or associating with people who are, they'd be fine. Plus, it's political capital. Trump can budge on this one, but when that tax reform bill comes through, the door will have to swing back his way.
Trump is bluffing. He will reinstate DACA in 6 months if no bill is passed. Congress would call his bluff if they are smart. His latest tweet confirms this. Trump playing chess while Congress playing Checkers.
If you ever watched The Apprentice and followed Trump the last 25 years, he's never bluffed about firing someone or walking out on a deal if it doesn't meet his demand. I predict the same fate as the current ACA except nothing will ever passed. The GOP will push some bill that will get debated and doesn't meet approval and nothing is done about it. It's low on the radar vs the Tax Cut Plan right now so it'll get examined early next year.
For now, if I was here on DACA then I would worry about not getting a Federal job but there are plenty of states like NYC or CA that would not comply with ICE.
No but with mass media and clic on cell phone cameras we are all seeking this "rule of law is NOT equal." The countries you mentioned, I can give you some scenarios very close to that right here in the states. You know what? men are men -and they good or bad or in between- are the same way on earth. The murder in China is the same as a murder in Africa. The problem is most are realizing the laws made are old, created by corporations or wealthy people and are biased. I will obey the law, least important ones, but I will demand they make good laws and get rid of what does not work . .
