The courts no longer follow the written law, so who knows.
The Democrats had a small window of opportunity with the travel ban before Gorsuch, that window has been closed. I would presume that any lower court decision now that infringes on Presidential power will immediately be appealed to SCOTUS.
Actually we are not speaking only about 800,000 dreamers. We are speaking potentially of 4 million immigrants.
Why did those parents leave behind their children or even toddler kids in US while they returned home 10 or 15 or 20 years ago? Any normal parents would not do it that way.
Then why did they make such drastic decision?
I guess they figured out that if their left behind kids would receive amnesty one day and later become citizens, then those kids would right away apply for their parents to come as immigrants to U.S. After those parents step on the soil of US, they can also right away apply for their under 21-year old children to immigrate to U.S. All these procedures can be realized within a relatively short time, i.e. 5 years, and it is all legal. Given that these dreamers mostly come from countries with higher birth rate, this scenario is quite realistic.
