(CNN) A man has died after running into the towering blaze for which Burning Man is named, according to the Pershing County Sheriff's Office in Nevada.
Aaron Joel Mitchell, 41, was one of thousands at the annual gathering in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, about 120 miles north of Reno. The weeklong event of pop-up installations culminates in massive burns of an effigy known as the "Man" on Saturday and the "Temple" on Sunday.
I could see a misguided stupid kid doing something like this to protest that he doesn't want to live in the racist oppressive dictatorship of the Trump America (their words not mine) but a 41 year old guy should know better.
I suspect drugs or alcohol was involved mixed with suicidal intentions.
How did the hippy snowflakes respond to this? Did they cancel the rest of the party? Were counselors brought in along with comfort puppies?
We shouldn't joke because today there is now a grieving family somewhere.
Who knows why this guy did what he did. But one thing I do know - running into a huge fire is not typical behavior anytime, anywhere, for anybody, and unless thousands of people take it up, it doesn't indicate anything about people in general or Burning Man sub-culture in particular.
