The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered the territory's national guard to begin seizing guns and ammunition from citizens in preparation for Hurricane Irma's landfall.
In an executive order signed Monday, Gov. Kenneth Mapp instructed Adjutant General Deborah Howell "to take whatever actions she considers necessary to carry out the assigned mission" of maintaining and restoring public order.
"The Adjutant General is authorized and directed to seize arms, ammunition, explosives, incendiary material and any other property that may be required by the military forces for the performance of this emergency mission," the governor said in the order.
Checking, I see that registration of all firearms is required in the VI. Coincidence? OK, anti-gunners - make your case that registration is *not* a prelude to confiscation.
This just solidifies the reasons for those living in free states under the US Constitution to never register our weapons.

The order is phrased not that citizens are to surrender their guns, but that authorities are to seize the weapons. The order is for the National Guardsmen to actively seek out the property of the citizenry and take it by force. No requirement is set forth to document what they take from who (...or is it whom?)
And no mention that anything seized will be returned after the storm.
I am guessing the executive order George Bush made got overturned by Obama or doesn't apply to US territories?
Don't know the name of the order, but it basically said, "No law enforcement official under the USA may seize weapons during states of emergency"
