It appears such fast food wage protests are not exclusive to the U.S.

McDonald’s faces its first strike since it opened in the UK in 1974, as well as protests by unions and the public at several restaurants over pay and working conditions.

About 40 staff will go on strike on Monday at two restaurants in Cambridge and Crayford, south-east London, after a ballot in favour of industrial action amid concerns over low wages and the use of zero-hours contracts.

They will be replaced by kiosks, and automation. These jobs are not meant to support families, but for money starting out, or additional income.

Britain, especially Greater London, has an absurdly high COL, so it doesn't surprise me

I suppose they can all work in the factories and warehouse as that don't exist anymore /s

Bob can thumbs up my comment, which is more logically sound

So you think that fast food jobs should just magically be worth a "living wage"? Factory jobs leaving doesn't make minimum wage jobs suddenly more valuable regardless of who's doing it.

It's that or mass suicide or crime wave. Take your pick. Or you can fantasize that the factory fairy comes back. Or do competitive currency devaluation so that your currency is cheaper than pesos and rubles /s

Talk about fantasy. Liberals really have absolutely no grasp of reality. You can't pay someone more than a job is worth, period. You can't pay someone $20 / hour if their job only generates $10 / hour to the business, it's so basic it's amazing how many people can't grasp the concept.

An intelligent worker would do something to gain skills worth paying for instead of whining that they can't live on a zero skill, entry level, minimum wage job.

Waste money and time for jobs that are filled already, that's a sure winner, especially in the UK like where the OP talks about, that low to medium skill jobs are extremely difficult to find
