There's a distinction between native American and Native American. Don't pretend to not know the difference. You just wind up looking like a child.
actually i am both. as far as we can find, there is indian blood in my family, whether it be apache, cherokee or both. unfortunately the records necessary to prove it were destroyed in a fire in the early 1900s in el paso.
i also have hispanic blood in my family as well, which when tracked further back includes aztec and or mayan blood, and since they would also have mated with the spaniards that came over, there is also the possibility of middle eastern and north african blood lines in my family, to go along with the various european blood lines in my family.
Then maybe Liberals should act like it ......start treating them like Americans by stop labeling them as hyphenated Americans.
Maybe Republicans shouldn't act like somebody is suspicious if they aren't lily white - - treat everybody as Americans even if they aren't the shade of somebody coming over on the Mayflower.

How about getting your DNA tested. What I was told all my life about my heritage was false.

Interesting. I had the same experience when I had a DNA test. All that "family folklore" was pretty much family folklore. One part I new well because of genealogy research on my dad's side, but all those stories on my mom's side were... well... stories.

No kidding. When I was very young my great grandmother told us stories how we were descendants of the head of a native american tribe. And of course I believed her because I was so young.

Very similar story here. Supposedly there was a strong Cherokee component. Not the case. Zero Native American. But over twenty-five percent Irish that I wasn't even aware of... guess that's why I've always been drawn to Ireland, its climate, and the Irish Gaelic language!
