They have to go! They were built by slaves. All stuff built by Roman Empire, gotta go, built by slaves. Stuff in Greece, gotta go, BBS. White house, Gotta go, BBS. Mayan, Aztec, Inca, Olmec pyramids, gotta go, BBS. Great wall of China, gotta go, BBS. Anything built by slaves, gotta go.
We are in a war on History, via political correctness, and the first thing to go in any war is the TRUTH. Stalin, Hitler, and Mao would be so proud.
Slaves did not build the Pyramids, a lot of what was built under the Romans was built by Citizens and Soldiers, the Greeks built their own Temples, same with the majority of those items and places you mentioned. You really should learn some history before going off on a rant.
That said, I believe the monuments and statues should stay, or is some cases moved to a Museum, one cannot re-write History, it happened and it is best we are reminded of it or we will repeat it even more often than we already do.
By the way, only stuff built by Black slaves need to go. Nobody cares about other races.
Yes, nothing could be clearer that people of other skin colors, cultures, etc. are to be ignored unless they can used as a political wedge and for vote pandering.

Who said statues are being removed because they were built by slaves? Not one of the controversial statues or monuments was built by slaves far as I know. They were all erected many years after slavery in the US ended. Do you have proof otherwise?
They're being removed because they memorialize and honor traitors who were trained and educated in military tactics and strategy by the United States government, swore to defend the US, then violated their oaths and took up arms against their country to defend slavery.
Yep. This is this week's talking point.
I don't need a weathervane to know which way the wind is blowing. The Maoists and Stalinists will target Jefferson, Washington & Madison next.
Which means our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, 3/4ths of our nation's capital (including its name) will be in play if these Nihilists and their idiot followers (who don't have a clue about our nation's history before Clinton was President) continue down this path.
85% of the media are already in the tank with these people, I just hope that reasonable and critical thinking Democrats & Independents will join moderate conservatives to put an end to this lunacy.

True indeed. I will note that 1) the pyramids were not built by slaves, as is popularly believed; and 2) I was certainly ok with Penn State taking down that statute of Joe Paterno after his sins arose (which are back in the news).

Huh?
Slaves helped build the White House (& other Government Buildings in DC), the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids in Mexico & (although it's being debated) probably were involved in building the Pyramids in Egypt and many buildings in Ancient Greece & buildings built during Roman Empire.
Absolute rubbish plenty of white voters don't want statues of traitors to the United States.
Should we take down the Crazy Horse monument?
