I can only hope you're being intentionally obtuse because you were chiming in citing Old Gringo's comments which were definitely bigoted.

Why isn't this topic in the religion section?

Wonder why this "miracle" went so long before being released to the public.

Well, the OP thought it was political and/or controversial, obviously.

I'm fine with it being here, but if someone reports it to a mod and the mod moves it, I'm good with that too.

Don't get me wrong here, people who hold this idea are free to hold it. But then I'm free to point out that it is a bizarre idea. Silly "religious" ideas are no more sacrosanct than are silly "math" ideas. If you really are a math guy, would you let a c-d poster with a silly idea about, for instance, statistics, go unchallenged?

(I note that if one piece of paper in this towering inferno got stuck to a cooling piece of molten steel, then most likely there were others. In fact, many pieces of paper survived to litter the streets for blocks around. Why aren't those significant messages from the deity?)

It's long been my contention that some people think of themselves as religious when what they really are is superstitious.
Religion is a belief system obviously and I have many atheist friends whom I respect their views even if I don't agree with them. Nobody knows for certain either way, hence the word "faith".

Math isn't a belief system. Comparing the two suggests you know "for sure 100%", but if that's how you feel then I'm going to respect your view.

There is a big difference between "I don't view these things as a sign from some higher power" and "what a bunch of drooling doofuses, dog they are soooo stupid".

The former is reasonable, the latter is mocking bigotry, no better than some yokel makin' fun of the Moooohammad feller and 72 virgins while holding a bible in their hand.

To be fair, most of the snide superiority and mocking commentary often comes from one religion aimed at another which is probably why I find it annoying. Just because it's coming from the atheist religion doesn't change that lol.

Yes, it is. But within that system, you can have profound ideas or you can have silly ones.

Yes or no: when you find a piece of paper that has adhered to a cooling piece of molten steel, you've come across a message from the deity.

A book like 1984 was pure fiction but yet there is a lot to learn from it. There are many fictional books one can take lessons from.

There is a lesson here fictional or not.

Most religious people can find a sign from their god (whichever one it is) in almost anything.
