Story in Breitbart today about Corker and others being in Bannon's crosshairs.
"Behind the scenes, Bannon has proposed the possibility of targeting Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, and ... talking about the prospect of a challenge to Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker,” Politico reported Sunday night."
Dems won't be helped if another Rep is elected.
Those Repubs will stand less of a chance of being elected than the Repubs who currently hold those offices.
Bannon is turning out to be a great operative for the DNC.
It's the Michigan 11th Congressional District. One created out of the most obscene gerrymandering efforts ever seen in the state. Designed to keep Thad McCotter safely in office, it all blew up when his staff was caught forging signatures on reelection petitions - bigly. McCotter was forced to resign in disgrace. The seat that year went to Republican lunatic fringe candidate Kerry Bentivolio, who then lost the next election to a more mentally alanced Republican Dave Trott.
This seat should be a slam dunk for the Republicans, but the district's short history is just too weird to take it for granted. If the Democrats put up a qualified candidate, it could flip.
Michigan has been losing residents to other states for decades.
When people leave, we have to draw up new Congressional districts.
The Michigan 11th is one of those redrawn districts.
It's 82% white and composed mostly of working-class / middle-class suburbs (Westland and Livonia) and more rural Highland and WL Twp.
The Republican primary will be the only contest for this seat.

The Michigan state government has to redraw those districts because of the national census and the law, not because people leave.
And did you also take a look at the way the district maps for the 9th, 11th, and 14th districts all swoop around each other, packing the democrats into their districts while keeping one safe republican district in Metro Detroit. Republican gerrymandering at it's finest!

You even look at a map of the Michigan 11th? Or don't you know Michigan?
Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Troy, Lake Angelus, Commerce Township, Novi, Northville, Plymouth, and Farmington are all in the district. Not what anyone would call working-class / middle-class suburbs.

Michigan only has 14 Congressional districts.
2003-2013, it was 15.
1993-2003, it was 16.
1983-1993, it was 18.
See how that works?
If there were still 18 districts, we would have never needed to redraw districts.
Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Troy and Northville, not so much.
Novi, Plymouth and Farmington, along with Westland, Canton and Livonia, definitely yes.

Districts get redrawn after every national census. Population shifts within a state are reason enough to redraw districts.
But politicians on both sides of the aisle try to redraw the districts to their own benefit. And the Republicans, who drew the boundaries in 2010, had the benefit of extremely powerful software to enable their gerrymandering efforts. The electorate in Michigan is split evenly between votes cast for Republican candidates and votes cast for Democratic candidates, but the State legislative chambers and the US House contingent from Michigan both tilt heavily towards the Republicans.
And here's a question, have you signed the anti-gerrymandering petition?

You think that Novi, Plymouth, and Farmington are working class majority? Just how far down river do you live?
