It rarely comes up with my black friends, either, and when it comes up it's usually because of a news item. We talk about work, sports, what our kids are doing now, their wives, ailing parents, news about people we haven't seen for a while, food, beer, and our lawns...lol.

But once in a while they'll talk about an encounter they had with someone who seemed to be racist or they'll talk about what they feel are cultural differences between successful blacks and less successful blacks. Some of what they've said has been shocking, in that regard.

And why would a friend/peer see you as 'a poor black oppressed person'? Only idiot SJW's do that!

People agreeing that there's racism in MLB know zero about sports and are just popping off about something they have no knowledge of.

Management recruits players who can help the team win.

Which seems more out of whack?

MLB:
Black players: 8.3%
Latino: 29.3%
Asian: 1.7%
White: 59.07%

NFL:
Black players: 68.7%
White: 28.6%
Other: 2.7%

NBA:
Black players: 74.3%
White: 18.3%
Other POC: 7.3%
Other: .1%

From reading the link I am not sure if the point of the banner was due to a lack of blacks in baseball, or the Adam Jones situation where he claimed he heard racist remarks coming from the fans at Fenway.

At any rate to address your chart, the biggest reason why baseball see's a low number of blacks is due to scholarship availability in baseball. American blacks who participate in sports from a young age are hammered about going to college. Full rides exist in Football and Basketball, none (or extremely rare) in Baseball. When a young athlete enters HS, becoming a pro is nothing more then a dream, the set goal is college and getting money towards college.

MLB has in the past several years established "Urban Youth Academies" in several major cities as an outreach to blacks as well as other urban youth. They also have their RBI program (Restoring Baseball in Inner Cities). Both have been a very successful programs, but until the NCAA allocates more scholarships the percentages of blacks (African American) in Baseball will remain low.
