And in terms of delivering any kind of blow against the USA or even Russia, it's still in 3rd world status. China's military is defensive only. And in that regard, no country could directly invade it and win. But it has no offensive capability that Japan, as long as we protect it, needs worry about.

Agreed. Trump supporters need to get out of their neighborhoods more often. China is a nuclear superpower with a standing million man army. We would lose a conventional war against them and NOBODY would win a nuclear war..... We just don't have the manpower. We can't even beat ISIS and the Taliban . Maybe we can invade Grenada again . That's a sure win.

Yup. the other thing to be aware of is the fact that for the last decade of so China has been "cultivating" relationships with several of the small Pacific nations across the region. One example is the Cook Islands. Few folks have heard of this tiny country, but it's spread across a HUGE area of the South Pacific, covering an area roughly the size of Texas that is rich in aquatic resources. I spent time there a decade or so again (I was a TripAdvisor Destination Expert on the region for a number of years) and one of the things that surprised me was how the Chinese were trying hard to cultivate relationships with that country by constructing various infrastructure buildings there (specifically a new Courthouse, National Police Headquarters and a Sports Arena). They Chinese were not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, they were eyeing the Cook Islands potential mineral and fishing wealth - and they weren't just doing such construction in the Cook Islands, they were doing it elsewhere across the region as well. China wants access to those resources.
Having said that, those buildings have not stood up so well and now need major repairs so I'm not quite sure how much "political currency" building those structures has gained China.. It does show however that China has ambitions in the region. They are eyeing the Pacific and they are building a navy to match those ambitions.

But I don't believe the we would lose a conventional war part.
We will win a conventional war, but we will become a 3rd world country. China has a lot to lose too, and they are not that stupid to fight with the U.S. Read Chinese newspaper, they know the reality.

Try to understand what we are discussing here. Those million men in China are no threat to Japan, the USA or anyone else. They are defensive only. And in terms of delivering those nukes, China isn't even a match for the UK or France. Their delivery systems are 50 years behind the USA and Russia.
