New bipartisan legislation seeks to protect the Russia investigation’s special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Donald Trump.
“If the special counsel is removed, the legislation allows the special counsel to challenge the removal in court,” wrote Michigan Democratic Representative John Conyers Jr. of the new bill he introduced in the House Thursday.
Conyers is proposing the legislation with Republican Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina and they intend it to be a companion to a bipartisan bill the Senate launched in August to bar the president from firing any special counsel. The laws would be retroactive to Mueller’s appointment in May.
Alright, let's look at this whole thing for a minute. WHY should Donald Trump even consider getting rid of Mueller, and WHY would ALL OF US not want to know if the President of this country has clean hands or not ? We accuse you Trumpees of not giving a damn about his honesty ,or lack thereof, this is your opportunity to show us you DO care and want a full and fair inquiry into what went on.
I see a slight problem in that President Trump has to sign it first.
Maybe, maybe not. Depends how many votes it gets in the Senate and the House. Trump signed the legislation that tied his hands on the Russia Sanctions, but even if he hadn't it would have become law anyway.
Um, I'd co-sponsor this bill too just to see Conyers embarrass the Democrats more than they already have.
