None of the billionaire kids should have taken the SS without reimbursing the government. What a bunch of leeches.
So you just made up a new rule that billionaire kids should not get SS protection but the millionaire kids like the former POTUS kids should get it. On what basis may I ask.
Personally I think that only minor children, or those living in the WH should get secret service details.
Could you imagine the expense if one of the Duggars was president? The cost for protecting a couple dozen kids, their spouses and kids would be astronomical.

Basis is that they are not kids, they are adults. RICH adults. I did NOT say they should not get protection, I said they should REIMBURSE the SS for it. I'd be in favor of a new rule that says any adult children over the age of 25 should not be covered or if they wish to be covered, they pay for any OUT OF DC area trips for BUSINESS.
They do not have the supportive intelligence to assist them, makes a big difference.
I mentioned that previously and the other issue is the limitations on the weapons they may carry.
While they may not have the vast resources of the Secret Service to obtain that information it doesn't mean it won't be shared with them. It's no different than the Defense department sharing information with Boeing employees with the proper clearances.

I believe the problem is unprotected family members can open a president up to extortion which is a national security issue.

Volunteering to pay for it is the right thing to do, requiring them to pay for it is a whole other matter.

These people are targets for both murder and kidnapping. "Any" adult child over some cutoff age that could not afford the protection becomes a monstrous liability. This isn't just about protecting their lives, it's also protecting national interests. Like it or not their safety is a national interest.
