This woman claims that she went to pay for the meal she was sharing with her daughter and the gentleman she was with when a woman approached her and told her that the dog has more rights than she does, subsequently calling her the N-word. The woman says she escorted her daughter out of the restaurant and came back (for purposes that aren't clear), whereupon as many as 8 additional folks (who she claims all knew the veteran with the service dog,) surrounded her and began shouting racial slurs. She claims this is when she became unhinged.

Woman from Video Yelling About Service Dog in Restaurant Defends Herself | TMZ.com

You'll note that during her rant in the original video in this thread she makes no mention of racial slurs and instead focuses on the dog's presence, as well as calling the woman who's off camera a b*tch, a wh*re, and tacitly challenges her to engage in a physical altercation as she's asked to calm down by another man in the video.

Here I see two people, a veteran with a service dog, both calm and well behaved.

Another one is this woman who acted uncivilized.

I am not saying this woman has no right to voice her opinion. Based on the video alone, I cannot say she has been discriminated against.
To me, the best analogy is smoking or talking loudly on a cell phone on a bus, for example. Those things might be triggers for you. You go to a restaurant and someone lights up a cigar and you don't want to smell that while you are eating.....you are going to react negatively. If you are riding on a bus and do not want to hear another persons loud conversation of a cell phone, that might make you feel the way this lady felt.

Part of the problem, I think, is the way different people see dogs. Some people have close personal relationships with dogs and cats to the degree they see them like people and hence cannot see why this lady is so upset about dogs being in a restaurant.

Unless you think he was sleeping at the restaurant.
wrong

The video shows Delaware resident Ciara Miller standing in the middle of Kathy's Crab House in Delaware City, Del., arguing with a small group of people, which included a man holding the leash of a Great Dane wearing a vest indicating it's a "PTSD service dog."

That dog is a PTSD service dog. Just because you don't believe it is a service dog, doesn't make it so.

And the guy being a "vet" is not a claim? We don't have PROOF of anything but what can be seen in the video.

Per the ADA link (141,142) I supplied earlier and the dog owners own words, he no longer qualifies to bring this medical device with him.

Right. I agree with you.

Like I posted earlier, when it comes to animals, (service dogs are animals) there is no right or wrong opinion. I am the type of person who is okay with even a pet dog in a restaurant, but it is just me. There are a lot of people don't like animals, I don't think they are bad people and they have the right to voice their opinions too.

So maybe there should be a balance somewhere.

I know service dogs are trained, so the training facility should issue them a special tag. This will eliminate some problems.

Come to think of it, maybe the woman is just irritated that people refuse to see her side of the story. She obviously didn't like animals, that doesn't make her a bad person. Doesn't give her the right to behave like that in public because behaving like that accomplishes nothing.

Actually we do. We can hear the people on the other side of the camera yelling at her and they are three white women.

Plus we now have interviews with both her and the Army vet (links are now in the thread).

I see the phone thing all the time. And yes, it is annoying but about the most one can do is give a disapproving look. Walking over and knocking the phone out of the persons hand would not be a rational thing to do.

I think about the only time I can remember being "triggered" in public was when my wife and I were in line to see a play. This guy cuts in front of us, then pulls his wife and another couple in. I asked him if there are any others in his group that are in such a hurry that they need to cut in line. I got no answer from him and glaring look from his wife, so I turned to the rest of the people in line and asked any of them if they were in a huge hurry like the 4 in front of me , to let me know and they are more than welcomed to cut in line. I got no takers....

I have not seen any papers showing that he is a vet. I am not saying that he is not a vet, I am saying that no proof has been presented to make it something other than a claim.....just like you labeled the ladies story as a claim....without proof.
