Sad.

The ACA was only a boon to insurance companies. Plain and simple. That is why we are hearing different insurance providers "coming out against the repeal of the ACA" on NPR.

Not a right winger, here. Very much an independent and centrist, except for abortion on demand.

When you get the government involved all it does is add a middle man to the equation that redistributes but it does so in a less efficient manner than the free market otherwise would have. Government is just a VERY expensive, very wasteful, very corrupt middle man. We need a completely free market solution, we havent had a free market healthcare system in a long time. We used to have church groups that would provide healthcare for FREE to the poor.

Imagine how much better businesses would do if they were not saddled with the responsibility of providing health insurance at all?

You know, like most of the countries we compete against globally.

Gee, I wonder how we could do that?

Universal Healthcare.

Oh no - now you did it. You used logic. Cons won't like that at all. "Fake news!"

I guess to coastal liberals $5,300 a year more might just be pocket change but that is a huge expense for employers and employees. Feel sorry for the small businesses.
OK. Now let's see how much higher it goes and how many people lose coverage when you allow insurers to price discriminate against pre-existing conditions (esp. sick and old people) and those who lapsed coverage.

Exactly. The dependence the healthcare system has on employment is a large reason my husband and I remain corporate grunts rather than launching a business of our own.

It's understood that many people have benefited from this but that has been accomplished on the backs of people that were already paying for insurance. This law has created a whole new class of people who can't afford it. The entire middle class of Pennsylvanian for example is not just a few people....

WHY is it such a secret? 10 members stuck their necks out with an outline of a plan and Pelosi refused to endorse it. No plan from any Democrat at all ...... WHY is that?

You seem to believe that only the Majority in House or Senate are allowed to write a Bill -- that's just not true.
It's certainly possible that whatever Bill that the Democrats would write would never get to a Vote, but at least the public would then KNOW what it is they propose.
