I have always wondered about the convicted criminals who have been exonerated by DNA testing many years after the original trial. Sometimes these trials were pretty convincing, other times, not so much, so there could be reasonable doubt.
I have heard of chimeric DNA, but never heard of it being discussed in this context. It appears that it is possible to have two variations of DNA. It may even be common.
Is it possible that DNA evaluations for culpability and paternity need to be done differently?
Anyone have other references or actual knowledge on the issue of chimeric DNA?
