As long as they force their women to wear those burkas, their peripheral vision will be restricted, which will inevitably result in a much greater share of accidents than would otherwise be the case. Saudi men will latch onto this fact as "proof" that women are unfit to drive, and this experiment will likely be ended sometime within a couple of years.
There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- that gives me even the slightest desire to ever step foot in Saudi Arabia. This little tiny concession to modernity does nothing to change my mind.
Not my concern if they allow women to drive or not.
Not saying their laws are good by any means, but not my battle to be concerned about.
We live in a globalized society. A country that treats half its population as literal slaves will eventually be a problem for the whole world sooner or later.
Notice how these countries only open up for some change when the ruling class is forced to. The Saudis are bleeding money because of low oil prices and a terrible economy outside of oil. The top 1% ruling class in any country will always rule with an iron fist until they are forced to act differently.

True, but this is a great example of a successful effort for greater equality led by feminists within one of the most patriarchal societies in the world. We can herald it while still recognizing that it's not our business to meddle in.
I'm very happy for the women who worked so hard and risked to much to see this change in their country.
Seems like they have become too dang liberal. Next thing you know the girls will want to walk outside without an escort. Then they will want to vote.
Camel's nose under the tent.
