California wants single-payer health-care but I can only imagine how the quality of care would fall apart if their failed Medi-Cal is any indicator.
They only reimburse at 41% of Medicare rates for a primary care visit. The reason why ER's have incredible waits in California is because the 12 million people on Medi-Cal when visiting a doctor they only get paid 41 cents on the dollar for that Medicare does.
Alaska on the other hand reimbuses 127% of Medicare rates. Montana at 106% and North Dakota at 100%.
With single-payer health-care they will have to a massive rationing of services as the state hardly reimburses at all and they have 12 million people on Medi-Cal.
They have fantasies about universal health-care in California but reimburses at such a low rate that they would have massive rationing of care.
Single-payer in my opinion can work in ultra-wealthy per-capita states like North Dakota, Alaska and Wyoming which is mainly county hospitals anyway but it would never, ever in a million years work in California or other densely population states with massive welfare-rolls.
Would be better if McCain would have supported Doug Ducey recommendation instead of the politicians of the party of Pelosi, Waters and Clinton.
