Trump seems like he is intentionally punishing Puerto Rico by ignoring the devastation and refusing to waive the Jones Act. This golf course project in PR failed so maybe he has a grudge...as usual.
Bingo! I was wondering what the connection was and now we have it.
perhaps because it would have had to sail THROUGH THE VERY HURRICANES that hit the islands?
Some of us think that the Comfort should have been placed on standby status as soon as it was clear that PR was in Maria's path.
Apparently it takes several days to fully staff the thing. Had those staffers been alerted that Comfort was sailing as soon as the weather allowed, they'd be on their way now. Many of these staffers are civilians, BTW.

its possible that since there are like 147 hospitals on the island, that the ship would not be needed.

They should have been preparing to go before the hurricane even hit so when the hurricane had passed they could leave quickly. They didn't start preparing until days after the hurricane had already passed. They should have been ready to go 5 days ago.
The federal governments response hasn't been adequate, but this was a major disaster while we are still cleaning up after other disasters. The Feds have handled the first 2 disasters well, this one, not so much.

But they also knew that there were going to be major power problems, I don't think anyone could have guessed to this extent, but everyone knew this was going to be a major disaster. I see no excuse as to why they didn't get ready. They waited how many days after all the hospitals were out of electrify to get ready? When they saw that the entire island had lost power, they should have known immediately that they needed to get ready.

PR is an island which makes it a whole different story.
Not like electric companies can pack up their trucks and head there to help out like they did here in the US.
Lots of other states and companies jumped in to help with recovery in Texas and Florida.
And PR is not alone. Berbuda is still uninhabitable and residents cannot return home.
The US Virgin Islands are still without power.
6 island nations got hit with the hurricanes and they got hit bad.
